The team of Griffin Structures and Swinerton Builders, along with LPA Architects, is serving as the Development Team for the new Police Service Headquarters in the City of Salinas. The facility will be delivered utilizing a Public-Private Partnership (P3) which will provide for the design, financing, construction and delivery of the new $49 million facility.
The new 74,000 square foot facility will replace the City’s existing police department headquarters, built in 1958, and will accommodate anticipated future growth. The Police Service Headquarters will address the space needs identified in the City’s 2014 needs assessment study for the Police Department.
Planning and development for the facility includes a comprehensive community outreach component to engage residents and businesses to discuss issues, concerns and ideas.
The facility will be located on East Alisal Street, initiating the City Council’s strategy to revitalize the Alisal Market Place area. In concert with the City’s vision, there will also be a significant community-serving component located within the overall eight acre site. The Police Services Headquarters is scheduled to be completed in first quarter 2020.
The integrated P3 delivery method results in cost-effective, time-efficient facilities.
