South Victoria Avenue Park

"The new park will serve a part of the inner City that lacks sufficient park space for families."

City of Los Angeles, Board of Recreation and Park Commissioners Report

After years in the planning stages and securing funding from the Statewide Park Development and Community Revitalization Program, The Trust for Public Land (TPL) was able to purchase and develop this quarter-acre site into a much-needed park in a densely-populated inner city neighborhood of south Los Angeles that lacked open space and recreational opportunities.

Griffin Structures managed the construction of South Victoria Park which was planned with resident input to reflect the community’s diverse interests and backgrounds. The site features a custom playground with vibrant colors and a unique junior-sized basketball court with multiple hoops. TPL’s signature Fitness Zone® installations offers adults the opportunity to exercise while children play. Features like neighbor-friendly night-sky lighting, a decorative fence and gate, and drought-tolerant plantings address the community’s concerns about park security and maintenance. Upon completion, TPL donated the property to the City of Los Angeles, maintaining the park’s use in perpetuity.
