Madison Avenue Park & Community Gardens

The Trust for Public Land engaged the community’s help—in four languages—to plan Madison Avenue Park.

Griffin served as project and construction manager for this half-acre park that transformed a vacant lot into a vibrant community gathering space for recreation and community gardening (neighboring project by the Los Angeles Garden Council). A project by The Trust for Public Land (TPL), Madison Avenue Park serves 12,500 East Hollywood residents who now live within a ten-minute walk of this valuable community resource. TPL engaged the community’s help—in four languages: English Spanish, Armenian and Tegali—in planning the new park which includes a playground beneath a large shade structure, a basketball tree, tricycle track, and other child-friendly amenities. Fitness Zone® outdoor gym equipment offers adults exercise opportunities while their children play within view.

The park also features mosaics created by community members and a colorful mural, designed by a local artist and painted by the artist and local high school students.
