Lawndale Community Center

Griffin Structures served as preconstruction and construction manager for a new 46,000 square-foot community center in the City of Lawndale. Located on a corner block in the Lawndale Civic Center, this three-story community center is designed to maximize the use of its small urban site and complete the Civic Center complex. The building entry is located on a corner and defined by an iconic three story circular elevator lobby offering a visual connection to the City Hall, Library and Civic Plaza across the street.

Parking is located at grade, with the community center program spaces on the second and third floors. A second floor terrace allows for activities in the arts and crafts meeting rooms to expand to the exterior. A large multipurpose main event room and an outdoor terrace are located on the third floor to provide distant views of the Hollywood Hills and San Gabriel Mountains to the north. Porcelain tile, plaster, metal panels and sun louvers unify the building aesthetics with the existing City Hall and Library.
