1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion Memorial

For nearly three decades, the 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance (LAR) Marines have stood ready and defended our nation and liberty. Griffin Structures provided pro bono Program and Construction Management services to the 1st Armored Reconnaissance Battalion Association to facilitate the construction of a ‘Living’ Memorial at Las Flores, Camp Pendleton to honor all LAR Marines who have died and fought to protect our nation.

The project comprises three Minnesota sourced granite obelisks with the central stone containing a description of the unit and memorial along with the names of the fallen Marines. Crowned with a cast bronze Eagle, Globe and Anchor Marine Corps emblem, and the two outer stones emblazoned with the unit and association seals and Light Armored Vehicles. The memorial also includes three flag poles, landscaping irrigation and planting enhancements, and seating areas for rest, respite, and reflection.
