Griffin Structures provided construction management services for the 86-acre Lake Forest Sports Park and Recreation Center. The Sports Park features five baseball fields, six soccer and multi-use fields of natural turf and synthetic turf, a rugby field overlay of two soccer fields, and two basketball courts. The general use elements consist of two playgrounds with tot lots and play equipment, two restroom facilities and eight gazebo picnic structures. In addition, the Park has two 1,915-square-foot clubhouse buildings.

The $52 million project includes a 26,000-square-foot Recreation Center located in the middle of the site, situated on a plateau overlooking the “park commons.” All rooms are oriented to the distant views to the south and the west and have large porches leading out to the shaded activity areas surrounding the building. The Center includes recreation office space, a double gymnasium with a 2-over-1 basketball court configuration, activity and dance rooms, a teen center, classrooms, a computer and homework center, two meeting rooms as well as a teaching kitchen and restrooms.

The full 86-acre site includes preserved riparian areas along Glass Creek and connects to the Whiting Ranch Wilderness Park. The Park includes a Glass Creek overlook platform and more than 500 parking spaces.
