Jordan Downs Housing Redevelopment

The new Jordan Downs provides residents with new opportunities in a mixed-use urban village.

Griffin Structures provided construction management services for the initial residential phase of the Jordan Downs Redevelopment, a project of the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles. The project, a 60-acre master-planned, mixed-use urban village concept, serves to enhance the greater Watts community.

The $32M Phase 1A Jordan Downs residential component included 115 multifamily units in 12 buildings, as well as seven smaller accessory buildings for neighborhood storage and services.

The construction schedule ensured current Jordan Downs residents will not be displaced, even temporarily. The initial phase was constructed on undeveloped parcels, adjacent to the original Jordan Downs properties allowing residents to move into new units as they were completed.

Once completed, the Jordan Downs revitalization project encompassed 1,400 residential units, the extension of Century Boulevard, a community center, park space, and up to 250,000 SF of retail and commercial use providing employment, services and retail opportunities. The development provided easy access to nearby mass transit options.
