Cypress Arnold Park Rehabilitation

Arnold Cypress Park is a multi-generational park featuring sustainable design approaches including four lighted softball fields, eight lighted pickleball courts, a children’s play area with shade sails, a restroom and concession building, a lighted basketball and volleyball court, a half-mile walking path, 294 parking spaces with 12 EV charging stations, picnic amenities, exercise equipment, storage building, covered bleachers, and over 225 trees.  Drought tolerant planting and low water use irrigation systems complete the project.

Built in 1949, Arnold Cypress Park predates the City of Cypress and has faced challenges associated with public safety, outdated design, and an aging infrastructure. ACP is home to the Cypress Girls Softball, Cypress’ vibrant pickleball community, and serves as a recreational hub for the surrounding community.  Special consideration for the design of the sports fields was considered due to their high use and on-going maintenance.  Designers used state-of-the-art synthetic turf on the fields that mimics the playability of dirt and natural grass all while saving the City funds on water and on-going maintenance which equates to less down time of the fields and more use by the community.  Landscape and irrigation were designed to ensure low water-use requirements while providing a comfortable park-like setting for park patrons.  Electrical systems were designed to meet Cal-Green standards, including LED lighting for all lights.
