The City of Irvine has officially completed its first Universal Playground. This accessible hub of recreation and play is usable by all people to the greatest extent possible. Visitors are able to take full advantage of two re-imagined playgrounds, two sensory gardens, and nature inspired moonscape boulder and sand play areas.

Although some existing features of the playground remained, the project included new shade structures, picnic tables and a jungle gym meant for kids ages 5 to 12. New playground equipment for kids 2 to 12 years old were added adjacent to the existing jungle gym, as well as resurfaced space with a rubber material.
